About HPPSC Shimla
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC), established under Article 315 of the Constitution of India, is a constitutional body that serves the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. HPPSC plays a pivotal role in civil service recruitment, discharging the duties as outlined in the constitution.
Established in 1966, with the formation of the state, the commission initially functioned at Shimla before moving to the picturesque town of Kasauli in the Solan district. In July 1982, the commission again shifted its base, this time to Dharamshala in Kangra district, where it continues to operate.
A core function of HPPSC is conducting examinations for the various civil services in the state government, including recruitment to Group A and Group B services. The commission also advises the state government on matters concerning the appointment, transfer, promotion, and disciplinary actions of public servants, in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the government.
HPPSC ensures transparency and fairness in its processes, upholding the principles of merit and competence. It plays an indispensable role in maintaining the governance standards and shaping the administrative machinery of Himachal Pradesh.
Moreover, the commission updates its examination patterns, syllabuses, and other rules from time to time to align with the evolving requirements and demands of the state’s civil services.
